This is a spectacular museum worthy 1970s silk gown by Hanae Mori. This Hanae Mori gown, was originally sold at Bergdorf Goodman. It features the designer’s signature butterfly motif. The dramatic design has exceptionally long, flowing sleeves and a paneled skirt constructed which creates beautiful flowing movement. The deep V-neckline and wide matching belt are embellished with shimmering glass beadwork. This gown is fully lined and completely finished by hand, it also has a hand set back zipper. This gown is in excellent condition. A mark the size of a pin head on one shoulder. One hidden skirt panel at the waistline hangs loose, or is an intentional design element. It does not show when worn. Some tarnish to beads. Please review all photos. This gown has seam allowance. Marked a vintage size 10 which has no relevance to modern sizing.

The National Art Center in Tokyo Japan recently did an exhibition on her designs, called Hanae Mori Vital Type: The 100th Anniversary of Birth. This exhibition featured roughly 400 pieces of her work and ran from April 15th to July 6th 2026.
