This is a magnificent 1980s silk evening gown by Carolyne Roehm. This incredibly special gown features majestic embroidered embellishments using mixed mediums. Including metals, netting, lamé fabric and threads, shells and rhinestones. This gown is sleek and has a back slit at the bottom of the skirt. It has an inner bodice that zips up and another zipper at the back. This gown is in very good condition. There is one very small worn spot on one of the sleeves that probably caught on the embroidery. One light small spot on the back. These are only noticeable upon very close inspection, and will not be visible under evening lighting. This gown is best suited for a small.
Roehm was a protégé of Oscar de la Renta, Roehm's aesthetic focused on traditional elegance, ultra feminine silhouettes, and rich fabrics. She was part of Manhattan's "Nouvelle Société". Roehm's fashion house was priced at the absolute highest tier of the luxury ready-to-wear market. Her pricing was on par with the most expensive American designers of the era, $2,000 to $10,000. Her work will only increase in value, she had a limited time span as a designer so I’m thrilled to have found one of the best examples of her work and American female fashion designers work. This gown was originally worn to the Honolulu symphony fundraiser gala.
