1970s cream colored Norman Norell coat with mink collar

$2,200.00

This is an exceptional circa 1970 Norman Norell coat, designed in a cream-colored wool with a soft, structured hand. This impeccably tailored piece features a dramatic rich brown mink fur collar that elegantly frames the neckline. The silhouette is slightly fitted through the bodice with a flared skirt. I especially love the seam detail on the back of the coat. It features large rounded patch pockets at the front and three wood-grain style buttons that fasten down the front. The coat is fully lined in silk and entirely hand-sewn. This piece is in very good condition. I sent it to a specialist, and the entire coat came back to life. There are typical light spots to the lining, mostly near the lower hem. There’s also a small mark under one button, which is hidden when fastened. Small loops are present at the sides—likely for a belt—which could be removed if desired. Very small worn spot at one back cuff. This coat is an extraordinary and iconic example of Norell’s refined American luxury.

Please allow room for layering, as this coat is intended to be worn over clothing. I believe it will best suit a modern medium. My dress form is an extra small for reference.
