1950s silk chiffon Galanos
Deceptively simple but undeniably luxurious. Those who know, know. The bodice features a hidden gold metallic layer beneath a floral overlay. when the light hits, the gold shimmer subtly reveals itself. The skirt has three layers of chiffon, designed to move with a soft, sweeping swish. This dress was not meant to be worn with out a crinoline. Galanos didn’t favor them and was the antithesis of that that period. The bodice is fully lined in a rich satin. This is in excellent condition.
Originally priced at $450, it was later purchased on sale. That original price in 1957 equates to approximately $4,900–$5,100 today.
There’s 21+ yards of silk chiffon just in the first layer of the skirt. Not uncommon for chiffon Galanos dresses.
