This is a pillbox-style tilt hat designed by Elsa Schiaparelli circa 1950. The structure consists of a mauve silk satin crown that is tightly draped and gathered across the center. The lower portion of the hat is trimmed by an arrangement of velvet pansies. The elastic band is worn at the back on the head. Has some wear to the flowers, light foxing to the fabric and one flower is darker than the rest. Presents beautifully. Fits a 22” head.
